About Us

Our Childcare Centre is a large and spacious, purpose built facility located in the Fernside suburb of Rangiora. The centre was constructed in 2009, and features a warm, functional layout with modern amenities.

The centre is separated into 2 learning areas (Nursery 0-2 years, and Over 2 years), providing specialised learning programmes to Nursery, Toddler and Preschool age groups. We are licensed for up 62 children, including up to 10 under two’s, and provide care for children from 3 months to five years.

Quality of care is important to us, and we have over 10 full time teaching staff employed at the Centre. All staff hold current First Aid certificates, and are experienced in the Early Childhood sector.

We support ongoing development of our staff to maintain a high standard of planning and education programmes within the centre.

Outdoor play is an important part of life at Fernside Preschool, and our expansive play areas allow the children space to make the most of the natural play environment, and enjoy our range of play equipment and resources.

A unique feature of our centre is our setting, which is amongst a dedicated 3 acre farmyard. We visit the animals regularly, and enjoy seeing the relationships develop between the children and the pets at the Centre. The children particularly enjoy the Springtime, with baby calves and lambs being bottle fed by the children.

Our Centre is open 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Visits to the Centre are welcome anytime - no -appointment necessary.
